One simple resolution for health

Farewell, 2013. What a magical/exhausting /hilarious/terrifying year you were.

Like most of us, I’m resolving to be more healthful in the next year, but I’m not going to fool myself with an overly ambitious resolution to work out at 5 a.m. every day. Not gonna happen.

Instead, I’m making this simple resolution: to drink a glass of water before each meal.

I’ve read about the weight loss benefits (most studies recommend drinking two glasses before a meal to curb hunger and reduce calorie intake), but I’m not after a diet trick so much as making sure I’m getting enough ounces in each day. I tend to drink tea copiously at work, but forget to drink water when I’m home. When I remember, I feel more energized.

My summertime favorite is water infused with cucumber. I think it’s much more refreshing than lemon or lime!
